Indian Railways Start-up

Railways were brought in India by British government. They felt the major need for some quick and efficient transport system, which was fulfilled by Railways. 
The first railway in India ran on 16th April 1853, from Mumbai to Thane, about 36 km. 
Later on, the Railways never looked back and went on developing. In India, there is the world's 4th largest railway network. This achievement took several years to be accomplished. 
Today, Indian Railways have became the heart of Indian economy. The money earnt through Railways contributes about 8.2% in GDP.
Today, Indian Railways have a force of 13,452 in all trains spread over a length of 1,21,000 km.
